Police Appeal After Car Crashes Into Seaford Shops And Catches Fire

Police are appealing for information after a car crashed into a row of shops in Seaford and caught fire.

The incident happened at around 2.25am on Sunday (September 20) in Sutton Road.

Sussex Police said a Suzuki Ignis crashed into a shopfront before catching fire, causing significant damage to the building.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended and the blaze spread from the vehicle to the shops.

Residents living in flats above the businesses were evacuated as a precaution while firefighters dealt with the fire.

The blaze was extinguished shortly before 4am.

No injuries have been reported.

Sussex Police are now trying to establish what happened and locate the driver of the vehicle.
