Families are being encouraged to head outdoors and enjoy a touch of autumn magic at WWT Arundel Wetland Centre this half-term, with a week of nature-inspired fun at the centre’s ‘Super Natural’ event.
Running throughout the school break, the event promises a spellbinding mix of hands-on activities showing just how “super” wetlands can be — from crafting willow wands and mixing magical potions from wetland plants, to going on a fungi hunt for spotted tops and giant domes.
Visitors can also enjoy pond dipping, take part in boo-tiful boat safaris, and, back by popular demand, try the fascinating owl pellet dissection workshops — offering a closer look at how owls live and hunt in local wetlands and woodlands.
Families can capture the memories of their adventure with a free ‘Super Natural’ logbook, available from admissions, which includes a guide to the activities, space for notes from the fungi hunt, potion recipes, and even a section to write their own “wish for nature.”
Elizabeth Pearce, from WWT Arundel, said:
“Our half-term activities always offer lots of fun and interest, and the ‘Super Natural’ event is no different.
"There’ll be plenty to learn and laugh about, so grab your kids’ wellies and come for a visit.
"Wetlands have incredible mood-boosting superpowers all year round, and this autumn, we guarantee a visit will cast a spell of joy that lasts long after you get home.”
Most ‘Super Natural’ activities are included in the price of admission and are free for WWT members.
Some sessions, including boat safaris (£3 per person), pond dipping (£3 per group of up to six), and owl pellet dissection (£5 per pellet), require on-site booking.
Visitors who book online at least a day in advance can save 10% on admission.

Located in the South Downs National Park, WWT Arundel is a 65-acre wildlife haven where visitors can meet Dalmatian pelicans, explore reedbeds, and enjoy scenic wetland boat safaris through one of West Sussex’s largest Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
