A former Sussex Police motorcycle has been donated to a charity working to improve safety among motorcyclists.
The BMW R1250RT was previously used by the force’s Roads Policing Unit and has now been handed to road safety charity DocBike.
The charity works with riders across Sussex, providing advice on hazard awareness, riding skills, advanced training and first aid.
Its volunteers attend motorcycle gatherings, dealerships and training events to speak directly with riders.
Sussex Police says motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable road users and are disproportionately represented among people killed or seriously injured.
Chief Superintendent Marc Clothier said the donation would allow the former police bike to continue having a useful operational life while supporting efforts to reduce casualties on Sussex roads.
