Man Arrested After Two Officers Assaulted Near Bognor Regis

A man has been arrested after two police officers were assaulted in Elmer, near Bognor Regis.

Sussex Police said officers were called to Lane End Road at around 18:00 GMT on Sunday following reports of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road, with the driver believed to be asleep.

Police said the vehicle appeared to have been driven along the road before coming to a stop.

During the incident, the man allegedly assaulted two officers.

One officer suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
