Man Charged With Assaulting Two Police Officers And Drink-Driving In Middleton-On-Sea

A man has been charged with drink driving and assault offences following an incident in Middleton-on-Sea.
Police were called to Lane End Road at around 6pm on Sunday (1 March) after reports of a vehicle stationary in the middle of the road, with the driver appearing to be asleep at the wheel.
Two officers attended the scene, where they were reportedly assaulted by a man inside the car.
One of the officers suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital for assessment and treatment.
Raimonds Vilde, 40, of Sycamore Road, Bognor, has been charged with drink driving, inflicting grievous bodily harm on a police officer, and assaulting another officer.
He was remanded in custody and appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (3 March).
