Man Charged With Murder After Woman Found Dead In Worthing

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman at a property in Worthing.

Police were called to an address in Durrington Lane at 7:50pm on Thursday (May 14) after concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman.

A 65-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sussex Police have confirmed that 37-year-old Alexandru Nechifor, of Worthing, was charged on Friday with murder and two counts of assaulting a police constable in the execution of their duty.

He remains in police custody and is due to appear before magistrates in Worthing on Monday.

Detectives say the man and woman were known to each other.

Detective Inspector Amanda Zinyama said officers believe the incident to be isolated and confirmed police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation.
