A Sussex-based family business has submitted a planning application to develop a new indoor padel centre at Victoria Business Park in Burgess Hill.
The proposed venue aims to offer affordable, flexible access to the fast-growing sport of padel, operating on a pay-and-play basis rather than a traditional membership model.
The initiative is designed to be community-focused, welcoming players of all ages and skill levels. According to the UK Padel Report by Brighton-based Oxygen Consulting,
participation in padel has surged across the UK, but access remains uneven.
Outdoor courts are often unusable during wet weather, and premium indoor venues can be prohibitively expensive for many.
The Burgess Hill centre seeks to bridge this gap by providing consistent indoor play in a more accessible format.
Plans include four indoor padel courts and a variety of social spaces to encourage community engagement. Details on pricing, programming, and operating hours will be released following the planning process.
Sally Vans Agnew, whose family is behind the proposal, said:
"We are a local family with a deep passion for sport, loving padel and all it offers, and with a strong commitment to community wellbeing.
"Our goal is to provide a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy the game."
If approved, the centre could become a key recreational hub for Burgess Hill, promoting active lifestyles and inclusive sport participation.
