Police Appealing For Witnesses To Fatal Collision In Catsfield

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on the B2204 at Catsfield, East Sussex on Friday 20 February about 11pm.

The driver of a grey Seat Leon, which had left the road, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene and two passengers in the vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of a second vehicle, which was at the scene, a Skoda Fabia, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken to custody.

He was later also arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The occupants in vehicle were uninjured.

The road was closed overnight for forensic investigation but has now reopened.

Detective Sergeant Suzy Marten said:

“We are investigating the circumstances of the collision which happened eastbound and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage of the incident to come forward.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw the vehicles being driven eastbound just prior to the collision.”
