Three men have been jailed for a violent attack on a teenage boy who was deliberately struck by a car and then stabbed in Haywards Heath.

The victim was knocked off his bicycle and through a garden fence on Sydney Road before being further assaulted while on the ground, suffering life-changing injuries.

Jack Ancell, 24, Charlie Clark, 24, and Aiden Barber, 22, admitted causing grievous bodily harm and possessing a bladed article.

Sentencing them at Lewes Crown Court on 13 April, a judge heard the driver deliberately rammed the cyclist before the group carried out the assault.

Ancell was jailed for seven years with an extended three-year licence period, Clark received seven years, and Barber was sentenced to six years and three months.

Police said the group fled after being challenged by members of the public but were quickly identified and arrested following an investigation.

Detectives described the attack as “appalling”, highlighting the use of a vehicle as a weapon before the victim was stabbed as he lay injured.
