A woman has been left with potentially life-threatening injuries after a tree fell onto her car in East Sussex during strong winds on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to White Hart Hill in Guestling, near Hastings, shortly after 4pm following reports that a tree had collapsed onto a vehicle.
The driver, a woman in her 60s, sustained serious injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital for urgent treatment.
Sussex Police, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and the Air Ambulance all attended the scene.
The incident forced the closure of the A259 between Hastings and Rye for several hours while emergency services dealt with the aftermath and the fallen tree was removed.
The collision came as a Met Office yellow weather warning for strong winds remained in place across much of southern England.
The adverse conditions led to disruption across the region, with a number of events affected and several reports of fallen trees.
Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
