Police are appealing for witnesses after an 82-year-old woman was injured during the theft of her car in Hove on Monday afternoon (12 January).
Emergency services were called to Blatchington Road at around 5.30pm, following reports that the woman had been assaulted by a man who then stole her car.
She was treated at the scene by the ambulance service and is believed to have suffered a serious leg injury.
The suspect left the area driving the woman’s vehicle, a red Honda Jazz, registration DU56 VCE, travelling eastbound along Blatchington Road.
The road has since reopened, and police say an extensive search is ongoing to trace both the vehicle and the suspect.
Enquiries are being carried out at nearby businesses and residential properties as part of the investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, or who sees the vehicle, is asked to contact Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 988 of 12/01.
