People across Bognor Regis, Littlehampton and the surrounding villages are being invited to help crown the area's Community Pub Hero.

Local MP Alison Griffiths has launched a search for the pub that goes above and beyond for its community, as part of the 2026 Community Pub Hero Awards.

Residents are being encouraged to nominate pubs that support local charities, sports teams and community groups, help tackle loneliness and isolation, host events, or provide a welcoming place for people to come together.

The awards, organised by PubAid in partnership with the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, recognise pubs that make an exceptional contribution to their local communities.

Rather than selecting a pub herself, Ms Griffiths is asking residents to submit nominations and share stories about the venues they believe deserve recognition.

A shortlist will then be drawn up before the public is invited to vote for an overall winner.

Nominations are open until Friday 19 June.

The campaign coincides with Small Business Week and comes as pubs continue to play a significant role in the local economy.

According to analysis by Oxford Economics and the British Beer and Pub Association, there are 43 pubs across the Bognor Regis and Littlehampton constituency, supporting around 1,070 jobs and contributing ÂŁ39 million to the local economy each year.

However, the sector continues to face challenges, with the British Beer and Pub Association reporting that 161 pubs closed across Britain during the first three months of 2026.

Ms Griffiths said pubs are often at the heart of communities, providing support for local groups, charities and residents while helping combat loneliness and social isolation.

She added that the competition is an opportunity to celebrate the many pubs making a positive difference across the constituency.

Residents can nominate a pub through the MP's website or via her Facebook page by submitting the pub's name, location and reasons for the nomination.

The winning pub will be announced in early July before being put forward for the national awards.
