A 22-year-old man from Rye has been sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of raping a woman he knew in her own home.
Jordan Osbourne, of Parkwood in Iden near Rye, was arrested in February 2022 following allegations from an 18-year-old woman.
The victim said Osbourne, who she had allowed to sleep on her sofa, followed her into her bedroom in the early hours of 3 January 2022 and assaulted her.
Specialist officers supported the victim while an investigation was carried out.
Osbourne was subsequently charged with rape. After a four-day trial at Brighton Crown Court, a jury found him guilty on 6 March 2026.
At Hove Trial Centre on 20 March, he was sentenced to five years in prison and given a 10-year restraining order to protect the victim.
Detective Constable Cally Fox said:
"Jordan Osbourne’s victim trusted him and allowed him to sleep in her home.
"He betrayed that trust in the worst way.
"I want to thank the victim for her courage throughout this process.
"If you are a victim of sexual offending, please report it to police online or via 101, and always dial 999 in an emergency.
